FORMER Troon FC manager John Redmond this week announced his return to Junior Football as boss of District League side Craigmark Burntonians.

The former Super League and Ayrshire Second Division-winner has appointed former Annbank United manager and ex=Portland Park player Jonny Baillie as his assistant.

They take charge of training next Monday.

Redmond had a brief spell of boss at 'Mark last season and is delighted to be back

He said: "I was doing broadcasting work but that has stopped. Now I have the hunger to get back into football as I have missed it. We have a game at Ardeer a week on Saturday and will look to win that. Hopefully we can finish mid-table."

Meanwhile Whitletts Victoria boss Neil Duffy saluted his team after they secured their first win under his charge, defeating Muirkirk 6-0 at home.

Duffy said: it's great to see the guys enjoying their football and was s good result as Muirkirk are an improved side. We could have by even more had we taken some of our other chances. It was a really good team performance. We are getting the ball down and passing and buying into my philosophy."

Girvan boss Peter Leonard is encouraged with their progress as they maintained their promotion challenge with a 4-1 home win against Craigmark.

He said: "It was a good win as they have some decent players."

Girvan on Saturday host Ardeer Thistle.

But Leonard is taking nothing for granted and said: "They ran the leaders Irvine Vics close so we will have to be on our guard. But hopefully we can take three points."
