LAST weekend saw two Ayrodynamic athletes tackle the seventh edition of The Celtman – an extreme Scottish triathlon centered around the stunning Torridon mountains.

Roddy Dunn and Ian Mcalindon, Dalry, braved the 3.4km swim in cold, dark and jellyfish infested Atlantic waters, biked 202km in wet and windy conditions on scenic Highland Roads before running 42km through an ancient drover’s pass and over the Beinn Eighe mountain range. The race saw the athletes ascend over 4000 meters during the day.

First home after a sterling effort was Ian Mcalindon in 14 hours 31 mins followed shortly after by Roddy Dunn in 14 hours 56 minutes, both earning themselves the coveted Celtman blue T-shirt.

Elsewhere, there were no boxes of chocolates for Father’s day for Kilmarnock’s father and son duo David and Mark Auchie – instead an entry into the Men’s 10km road race in a wet and windy Glasgow.

Despite the torrential conditions, David Auchie finished in 40.40, just pipping Marc Auchie to the post who crossed the line less the 1 minute later in 41.20.
