Volunteers at Troon RNLI took to the water early on Wednesday morning to reports of a missing person.

Crew pagers were sounded at 3.09am on Wednesday, January 17, activated by Belfast Coastguard following reports of a missing person at Ayr.

The crew launched the D-class inshore lifeboat ‘Sheena’ and Trent class all-weather lifeboat ‘RNLB Jim Moffat’ to assist colleagues from Police Scotland and the local Coastguard Rescue Team.

However, as the lifeboats left the berth, the crew were informed that the person had been found by other emergency services on scene.

With no further lifeboat assistance required, the lifeboats were made ready for service with the help of the shore crew before the crew returned home to bed.
