SOUTH Carrick Decision Day will take place at Girvan Academy at the end of the month to support projects run by young people, locally.

Take 2 for South Carrick in partnership with Health and Social Care, Girvan Locality Planning Group will hold the event on Saturday, February 24 in Girvan Academy.

To recognise the year of the young people this day is about children and youth groups from South Carrick bidding to receive a grant.

The participatory budget award scheme, funded by the Community Choices Fund, will see local young people establish and host a ‘small grant’ scheme.

There will be 21 groups working with children and young people to pitch and answer questions from the voting public.

Some £30,000 is available on the day, with up to 15 groups being funded. Girvan Youth Trust are working with South Ayrshire Council, who have also contributed funds.

Organisers would like the residents of South Carrick to come out and support this event and have a vote on who they would like funded.

Registration will be open from 9.30am until 10am but those who attend must be able to stay until 2.30pm. To vote you must be eight or over.

A light lunch will be provided on the day and the event is supported by Girvan Z1 Youth Bar, Community Choices, South Ayrshire Health and Socialcare Partnership as well as the Scottish Government.
