AN OWNER was reunited with her pup, Harry, thanks the people of Troon and afar for their dedicated help to find him.

Two-year-old Harry, the Cookerpoo, went missing at night time on Tuesday, August 29 after going for a walk down on South Beach in Troon and running off towards the Marine Hotel.

Locals, friends and strangers gave their time to help Ruth Hall, search all over the town until he was spotted on Thursday, August 31.

Speaking to the Troon Times, Ruth said: “We took Harry to the vets and he has a blood shot eye and his paws are a wee bit raw but there is nothing serious.

“The best thing out of all of this was that everyone helped with looking for Harry.

“My sister, Helen, was out walking him on Tuesday down on the beach and he just took off over the dunes. The vet thinks that it could have been the wasp sting on his ear that gave him a fright and ran off.

“He went onto the golf course and then we later got a message from someone on the train saying that they had seen him.

“The SSPCA went to the train line but couldn’t see him and ScotRail notified their drivers to look out for him too. The maintenance crew went down to where he was seen but nothing was there to show a dog had been there.

“So many people were out looking for him - it is amazing how kind they all were.

“A woman came out with tracker dogs and cages with fish in them to try and find him and a photographer came out with a drone over the golf course. Him and another person with a drone scanned all around the area.

“People on the all the golf courses were looking for him too.

“My daughter’s boyfriend spotted a shadow and saw Harry at the railway side of the fencing right next to the railway line – it was amazing that he made it through the days if he was there that whole time especially when trains are passing by with the pull of them and everything.”

She added: “We are going to split the £500 reward money between animal welfare charities in the area.

“We can’t get over how supportive everyone was. It is a real testament – and everyone told us to keep the money, it was about finding the dog and not about the money.

“We cannot express how happy we are to have found him. I want to thank everyone for all their help, words can’t describe how grateful we are. We couldn’t have done is with the help that we were given.

“It was absolute kindness – everyone kept reassuring me and kept us positive throughout it all.”
