MAYBOLE 0

BELLSHILL ATHLETIC 4

AFTER what was a promising start Maybole ultimately fell to their sixth defeat out of 10.

This is a transition season for the Ladywell Stadium club, who have one of their youngest squads in many years although there have been clear signs of improvement from Carlo Walker's team.

The home side began strongly as they enjoyed the best of the early exchanges. They came close in just two minutes when a Chris Campbell rocket from 20 yards agonisingly hit the post.

Campbell is one of three players on loan from Ayr United, with the other two being Sean Millarvie and Kieran Balfour.

Bellshill then came much more into the game and took the lead in 25 minutes when the right back cut the ball back to the centre forward, who slotted home. Ten minutes later Maybole doubled their advantage with a well-taken strike.

However the home side were then reduced to 10 men when Andy Hainey was sent for a second booking, after being involved in an off-the-ball incident.

The visitors ensured it was game over when they scored goal number three in 75 minutes. Then a minute from time they netted again to condemn the hosts to a sixth defeat out of 10 in the league.

Maybole secretary Alex Meek said: "We have a very young team and it's a learning curve. But the manager Carlo Walker works hard on everything."

Saturday sees Maybole hosting Yoker Athletic.
