TROON Ladies 1s welcomed Hillhead Ladies 3s with a fast, tense game ending as a 3-0 win for Troon.

The weather was bright but chilly in Troon for the first meeting of the season between Troon Ladies 1s and Hillhead Ladies 3s. A fast pace was set right from the pass back, and continued throughout the game, with both sides having to use rolling subs to maintain the intensity of the play. With the game flowing smoothly from end to end, Troon had the first opportunity in the opposition D with a short corner after five minutes – successfully converted by Katie Watson. Hillhead continued resisting but then fell further behind in response to pressure from Troon as a rebound was struck home by Rosie Tudor.

Within three minutes of the second half, Amy Grassom secured Troon’s third goal with a confident shot from open play. Hillhead continued to push forward with strong plays, but they were unable to break through Troon’s defence with a limited number of shots on goal. With neither side losing pace, it was clear by the final quarter that Ladies 1s would stay ahead. The strong 3-0 win gave Ladies 1s their first points of the season.

Ladies 2s travelled on a fine day to play Hillhead Ladies 4s at Jordanhill. Hillhead 4's were a strong opposition, though Troon secured a goal within the first six minutes with Sofia Burnham finding the back of Hillhead’s net. Despite this, Hillhead attacked back strongly, securing two goals before half-time when the score sat at 3-1 for the hosts.

Despite Troon securing several short corners against Hillhead, they were unable to find the back of the net, but did rally enough to deny Hillhead further, the team only able to push the score to 4-1. A disappointing loss for the Ladies 2s, the team was hindered by their lack of subs, as well as the lack of communication brought on by this tiredness – although their stamina can only improve over the season'/

Troon Ladies return to action on October 27 when Ladies 2s play at Dumfries Ladies 2s while Ladies 1s welcome Western Wildcats Ladies 2s.
