UNSTOPPABLE united swept aside the Loons with a dominant display at Somerset Park to rack up their second straight league win.

Two goals inside three minutes late in the first half all but ended this game as a contest and Ian McCall's side already have the look of title favourites.

Their movement on the ball was superb and they have adopted an attacking, entertaining style.

The way they dominated was impressive, they look so hard to beat and the bubble doesn't look like bursting any time soon.

United were very fast off the blocks and a cross into the box from Andy Geggan aimed at Michael Moffat was saved by Marc McCallum in five minutes. Just a minute later, Ayr came close again when Craig Moore headed just over the bar from 10 yards.

Ayr were denied what looked a possible penalty claim in 10 minutes when Moore was shoved in the box by Jamie Bain but play was waved on.

The best chance of the match so far came the way of Forfar in 15 minutes when a strong drive from just inside the box by Dylan Easton was deflected wide by the Ayr defence.

Goalie Jordan Hart came to Ayr's rescue in 18 minutes when he saved a strong effort from Jim Lister after the home defence had struggled to deal with a corner-kick.

Ayr had two chances to score in 25 minutes when shots from Moffat and Paddy Boyle were saved by McCallum.

United were awarded a penalty in 34 minutes after Geggan was sent flying inside the box. Craig Moore took the spot-kick which was saved by McCallum. But he forced home the rebound, much to the delight of the noisy home fans.

The second goal came in 37 minutes when, with the visiting defence posted missing, Declan McDaid lobbed the ball home from 10 yards.

Unite came close in 48 minutes when Craig McGuffie aimed a long through ball at McDaid but the goalie came out to save.

Hart, who had a relatively quiet afternoon, made a great one-handed save to foil Eddie Malone from eight yards two minutes later.

Forfar man Simon Mensing was booked for a high challenge on Moffat in 57 minutes and a minute later McGuffie burst into the box before having his 12-yard effort fingertipped over the bar by McCallum.

Crawford saw his eight-yard shot well saved by the goalie in 64 minutes.

A Craig Reid chip into the box was cleared by a visigting defender six minutes later.

Easton shot across the face of goal for Forfar in 75 minutes as the visitors tried to salvage something from the match.

Nine minutes from time Robbie Crawford sealed victory with his fierce 16-yard effort landing in the back of the net, despite McCallum getting a hand to the ball.

Easton shot well over the bar from 12 yards in 87 minutes as Ian McCall's side easily saw out the match.
