RUTHLESS Maybole finally cashed on the chances they have been missing in recent games to keep alive their promotion hopes.

Carlo Walker’s men had the first chance in four minutes, David Cunningham outjumping the defence but his header was easily saved by Hutchison.

A corner in eighth minutes led to Maybole’s first goal, David Cunningham driving a loose ball into the net.

Maybole were in complete charge of the match at this stage and in 33 minutes, a Scott Dinwoodie drive was saved by Hutchison.

The second goal arrived in 41 minutes when an Allan Love free-kick was headed into the net by Cunningham. A minute from the break, a poor header back allowed Andy Stevenson to run clear but Hutchison blocked his effort. Three minutes after the restart, Glencairn almost pulled a goal back but the ball hit the bar and rebounded to safety.

The goal was only delayed as two minutes later Denis McLaughlan released Sean McGuire and his square pass was knocked into the net by substitute Tom Kilmartin. Straight from the kick-off Maybole played the ball forward and Chris Allan beat the keeper to the ball rounded him and rolled the ball into the empty net.

Allan broke down the left in 69 minutes and his low cross was turned into his own net by former Kilwinning Rangers man Ross Ballantyne.

Six minutes from time, Glencairn pulled another goal back when Kilmarton headed a Kris Irvine corner into the net. From the kick-off Maybole raced away and with the Glencairn defence unable to clear the ball properly it fell to Stevenson who netted from eight yards.

Within another minute Maybole scored again, George Wallace flighting a curling shot into the right hand corner of the net.

Goal number seven arrived in injury-time when a free-kick was rolled behind the Glencairn defence and Mark Dyer crossed for Stevenson to net.
