A THUG who was caught with a razor hidden in his boxer shorts claimed he needed it because of a death threat.

Jamie Gunn, 36, told police who searched him and found the weapon: ‘I’ve got that on me as some c***s gonna do me’.”

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “A black handled open razor with a 1.5-inch blade was concealed in his boxer shorts.”

The offence took place in Shettleston Road, Glasgow on March 21.

Lawyer Marissa Borland, defending, told Glasgow Sheriff that Gunn was “paranoid” as he claimed he had been told by police that a threat had been made on his life.

Gunn was jailed on Thursday for 27 months after he admitted having the razor in his possession and smashing a glass over 40-year-old Margaret Short’s head at her flat in Glasgow’s Sandyhills area in February this year.

Gunn had gone to the flat in Balbeggie Street to collect a £50 debt from a man he knew.

He was told to leave by Miss Short, but the man handed over £30 and told him to collect the rest later that evening.

Later Gunn’s then girlfriend later went to the door and got into an argument with Miss Short and head-butted her.

During this incident Gunn smashed a glass over Miss Short’s head. She refused medical treatment.

Gunn has since apologised to Miss Short for assaulting her.

Sheriff Joan Kerr told Gunn “These are serious matters and when I look at your record, your most recent convictions are ones for violence and possession of weapons.”
