AN AWARD for 30 year’s service to the RNLI has been made to Colwyn Bay town cllr Tony Pearson by Llandudno lifeboat’ Deputy Launch Authority Alun Pari Huws.
Cllr Pearson said he first attended an RNLI function in 1960 when he was a sea cadet in Stockport. But after moving to North Wales was encouraged to join the RNLI branch by a neighbour and before he knew it was collecting money from door to door and had joined the committee.
He has subsequently attended many RNLI functions, especially since becoming a cllr in 1995.
He said: “I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from the branch chairman Peter Weekes to inform me of this award.”
Cllr Pearson was presented a certificate and engraved glass in appreciation of his 30 years of dedicated service to the RNLI.
