AN IRVINE fitness instructor is set to take on a mammoth challenge to raise money for a children’s charity.
Fresh from winning last month’s Mactuff 2020, which saw him completing a gruelling 30k course, the 37-year-old has now signed up to the Tour de Highlands.
Scott will be joined by a team of 15 men and women from his Scott Brown Fitness (SBF) bootcamp on April 10 to cycle from Ayrshire to Ben Lomond.
Once they arrive they will then climb the iconic mountain before getting back on their bikes for another cycle, this time to The Cobbler.
Once again, they will climb this mountain before jumping back on their bikes for the long cycle home to Ayrshire. The team is aiming to complete the 150-mile cycle and two mountain climbs within 24-30 hours.
The SBF team is taking part in the gruelling challenge to raise money for the Whiteleys Retreat.
The retreat is nestled within 30 acres of beautiful Ayrshire countryside and provides free therapeutic short breaks for children, young people and their families with cancer and life altering illnesses.
Scott, who has completed the Tour de Highland once before, said he is looking forward to the challenge with some of his gym team. He said: “I enjoy giving people the platform to come and see where their breaking point is, letting them find out a lot about themselves and seeing how they react to different situations.
“All the things I enjoyed learning about myself over the years.”
Scott said he is proud to be raising vital funds for Whiteley’s because it is such a deserving cause: “Whiteley’s Retreat was on a small list of Ayrshire charities I hadn’t already fundraised for.
“And the fact it supports cancer sufferers which is great, so if we can contribute to keep making that a great place to go and have a retreat then that’s brilliant.”
