A WRESTLING star from Prestwick has become the first fighter from the UK to win the men’s WWE Royal Rumble.

Drew McIntyre has secured his place in world wrestling’s main event after his victory over Roman Reigns in a dramatic night.

The colossus dubbed the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ who was once sacked from WWE looked elated as he hailed his win.

The 34-year-old told WWE: “I can’t find the words, there’s literally no words, the past 18 years, the past 12 years in America, every up every down, every single second was worth it for that moment.

“When I threw Roman out and I heard 40,000 people react the way they reacted. I’m going to WrestleMania.

Drew also dedicated his victory to his wife for showing so much support during the stars gruelling schedule, he added: “This one’s for my wife. I’m going to WrestleMania.”

Drew will now have a shot at winning the main-event at WrestleMania where he will face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar or SmackDown’s Bray Wyat in April.

We told how Drew visited the birthplace of his hometown hero Robert Burns last week, in Alloway.

The star prepared for the Royal Rumble with a plate of traditional Haggis, Neeps and Tatties.
