TROON’s top citizen is campaigning to urgently install lighting to help keep elderly residents safe at a sheltered housing complex.
Ian Wilson, Civic Award Winner for 2018, said: “Tenants at Bradan Road sheltered housing have asked me to raise their concerns about the lack of lighting on the back lane which runs parallel to Bradan Road.”
Ian, who was mugged on New Year’s Day said at Troon Community Council: “There are no lights, the lane is uneven and people are frightened they fall, trip or get mugged. I’m hoping to get a couple of lamp-posts.”
Added Community Council chairwoman Helen Duff said: “Lighting should be a top priority as there are a lot of elderly people in that area.”
Councillor Peter Convery agreed to talk to South Ayrshire Council.
