AN AYR film society will this week show a Halloween ‘screaming’ as their selected film.

American horror Hereditary will be shown at Ayr Town Hall on Thursday, October 31.

Described as as “deeply unsettling film”, it follows the story of a woman named Annie and her family who deal with the loss of her mentally ill mother.

The family turn to different means to handle their grief, including Annie and her daughter both flirting with the supernatural. They each begin to have disturbing, otherworldly experiences linked to the sinister secrets and emotional trauma that have been passed through the generations of their family.

It’s a movie that pulls from relatable human emotions like grief and resentment to ultimately become an absolute nightmare.

It’s a film that, as cheesy as this sounds, haunts its viewers, planting terrifying imagery in their head. It will make you hug your loved ones and maybe even call your mum. And you might even start sleeping with the lights on.

Doors creak open at 7pm Guests £6 or £3 for students and under 25.
