A TROON girl got the chance to brighten up part of a cycle route after she entered a competition to give a Millennium Milepost an upgrade.
Iona McDade, 12, entered her colourful plan through a competition run at the Eco Ayrshire Festival held in the town in August.
Eco Ayrshire teamed up with Sustrans Scotland this season to give the posts along National Cylce Route Network 7 in Troon a bold new design.
Iona’s design was chosen as the winner following a public vote through Sustrans social media channels.
Iona joined Sustrans Volunteer Coordinator Laura White, Eco Ayrshire representative Lynda Hardman, and Amy Bissett from Ayr Active Travel Hub on route 7 at Troon on Tuesday to bring her Millennium Milepost design to life.
Cosmo Blake, Art and Diversity co-ordinator at Sustrans Scotland, said: “Iona’s creative design has really brought a splash of colour to Troon promenade, and reaction has been incredibly positive.
“Many local people are noticing the milepost for the first time.”
