FORMER zookeeper Kathleen Young has recently opened a novel new shop in Prestwick.

Knitting shop Fankle Yarns is based at 20A The Cross.

Tucked down the alley beside Wildwood Flowers, the shop offers residents and visitors unusual Scottish yarns alongside quality favourites.

Kathleen is excited about her new venture and said: “Not many places cater for Scottish-grown and Scottish-produced yarn, and I was always getting asked for them in my previous shop. It’s nice to be able to show off local and national talent.”

As well as yarns and accessories, Fankle Yarns stocks gifts and kits by Ayrshire makers and offers craft classes and workshops.

Classes are a great way to learn a new skill, or brush up on an existing one. You make new friends, keep your brain active and learn cool stuff,” added Kathleen.

Class timetables are available on social media and in store. Fankle Yarns promotes Scottish makers and producers.
