A PENSIONER had his late wife’s wedding ring stolen at his Ayr home last week.

Distraught Hugh McDonald, 71, was upstairs sleeping when thieves broke in through his back door in Thorneyflat Drive on Friday, September 27.

The widow who lives by himself also had his wallet stolen as he recalled hearing a click downstairs but was too frightened to move from his bedroom.

His son, Craig McDonald, is disgusted his dad was targeted and wants to make sure those responsible don’t get away with it.

Craig told the Ayr Advertiser: “It happened last Friday morning. He had his wedding ring stolen and his wallet with money. Nothing was damaged or anything so it might have just been opportunist thieves.

“He heard a noise upstairs when he was sleeping. He thinks his window opened because he heard a click. He decided not to go down because he didn’t know who was down there. I know I wouldn’t have went down.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
