GLOBAL fast food giants McDonald’s and popular pub chain JD Wetherspoon are being wooed by a Troon Councillor.

Councillor Philip Saxton is hoping both businesses will considering pitching up in Troon following the unveiling of the Troon Together survey, in which people expressed an interest in having more dining options.

He said: “There has been on approach made to McDonald’s but I would like to see them set up in Troon.

“The stipulation was they would move to a town with more than 17,000 of a population.

“Now Troon has more than 18,000 and there will be another 1,000 when the new housing development is complete.

“The most important thing is that we would have more footfall which we need in the town.

He added: “It would also be great if we had a Wetherspoons in the town as I believe it would do well. The council wants to be seen to be opening its arms to businesses. I drink at the one in Prestwick and it’s always busy, it’s very popular. Before it opened, people didn’t want it there but it has worked out well for it. The place is always really busy and people like going.”
