TRAVELLERS flying from Prestwick will no longer be able to go to Faro in Portugal as Ryanair announced they would close their base there.
The budget airline has decided to close the service from next year with the loss of 120 jobs expected at the base in Southern Portugal.
The decision has sparked a reaction from staff who have called for a strike between August 21 to 25.
Ryanair told the SNPVAC cabin crew union the closure was due to necessary cuts being made after lower earnings being reported, concerns over Brexit, as well as the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX.
Faro is a popular destination amongst Scottish travellers who use Prestwick Airport.
The base operates 10 aircrafts including inward journeys from Prestwick and others in the United Kingdom.
