A TEAM from an automotive solutions firm raised £16,000 for charity by cycling from London to Amsterdam.

The group, who work at S&G Response on Alderley Road, Wilmslow, completed the marathon 362-mile challenge across three gruelling days in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

The cyclists were Daniel Crinson, Jonathan Spencer, Ryan Williams, Nick Stone, Sean Harper and Tom Healey.

They set off on June 23, with their efforts being accompanied by a number of additional fundraising events at S&G Response HQ such as a charity raffle, a tuck shop and a stationary cycling challenge.

Sean Harper, motor supply chain manager at S&G Response and a participant in the ride, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our accomplishment and the incredible amount that has been raised, as a team, for a charity that we know helps to improve the lives of those in need.

“It was a fantastic experience and we enjoyed the opportunity to cycle alongside like-minded individuals.”

During the challenge, the team were forced to cope with a quintessentially British downpour while cycling to Dover, before boarding the ferry to Calais where they then made their way to Bruges followed by Amsterdam.

Sean was joined on the trip by colleagues Daniel Crinson, Jonathan Spencer, Ryan Williams, Nick Stone and Tom Healey, all of whom combined to raise money for a cause close to all of their hearts.

Their efforts were supported back home at S&G Response’s offices, where employees collectively completed a 421-mile trek on exercise bikes to exceed their intended target - that sought to emulate the challenge’s distance - by 59 miles.

“At the beginning of the challenge the team was definitely apprehensive, thinking we might be unable to complete the daunting ride, but 362 miles later the whole team had made it in one piece,” Sean added.

“We were so pleased to see everyone at home getting involved with the office challenge too - it really kept us in high spirits!”
