A NUMBER 11 bus was put out of action after coming under attack by a rock thrower in Kilwinning.

Passengers were left waiting for the next bus after the door window was smashed last Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Pennyburn Road at Skelmorlie Place, with a teenager understood to be aiming from the nearby underpass.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “Unfortunately one of our Service 11 vehicles was vandalised on March 13 at approximately 8.30am at Pennyburn, Kilwinning which resulted in a window being smashed.

“Thankfully there were no injuries to any of our customers or staff on board. The incident has been reported to police and CCTV footage has been provided to them for further investigation.

“We would welcome anyone who witnessed the vandalism taking place to our vehicle to come forward and report this to Police Scotland

Chief Inspector Brian Shaw said: “Police inquiries are ongoing and the incident was captured on CCTV. Police are trying to identify three potential subjects with inquiries focusing on the local school through the campus cop.

“The suspect is described as aged 14-15 and believed to be the person responsible along with two other youths who were alongside him.”
