ONE of Winford’s most exciting live bands is heading for dizzy heights this spring as they join The Wonder Stuff on tour.

In May, three-piece Déjà Vega will join the alt rock band at Cardiff and Southampton, just two of series of high-profile dates lined up for trio this year.

The support slot follows the band’s performance at last year’s Shine On weekender, where The Wonder Stuff frontman Miles Hunt cut short his own solo set to make sure he caught their second gig of the festival.

Lead singer and guitarist Jack Fearon said: “It was quite surreal. He just got in touch to say he’s seen us play and that he loved the band. We felt pretty honoured when he asked if we wanted to join them on their tour this year. We’re really grateful they’re giving us this opportunity.

“I’ve not met Miles before so I’m looking forward to meeting up with him and spending some time talking about music.”

The gigs will come just a few weeks after Déjà Vega play at Northwich’s Dead Dead Good Weekend festival which runs from May 9 to 11, an event the band are looking forward to.

Jack said: “It’s amazing to see what’s happening in Northwich. Last year’s North by Northwich was incredible and it just showed how much potential places like The Salty Dog and The Plaza have as live music venues. It’ll be a great event – we’re looking forward to playing.”

Last year the band were busy playing the festival scene and 2019 shows no sign of slowing down with slots booked in at events such as Manchester’s You Are Not Alone Festival later this month, as well as Blackthorn Music Festival in July and Confessional Festival in September

And although no studio dates have been yet set, the band is keen to get back behind the mixing desk and record some new music.

Jack said: “We’re constantly writing, we’ve got loads of new stuff so it’s just a case working out what we want to record and getting in the studio to do it.”

Deja Vega support The Wonder Stuff at Cardiff Tramshed on May 22 and Southampton Engine Rooms on May 23.
