HISTORIC caves beneath Culzean Castle were vandalised on Friday.
Crudely-painted symbols were discovered daubed onto the rocks of the historic site – which has been listed as an Ancient Scheduled Monument since 2002.
An appeal has since been made for any information on the culprit responsible after the damage was discovered.
A Culzean Castle and Country Park spokesperson said: “The caves are part of a volcanic cliff formation that is 350 million years old! There is also evidence of humans inhabiting these caves from Neolithic times which makes them a very special part of Culzean’s coast. If anyone has any information please contact us.”
