Magnard Wind Ensemble be blowing into West Kilbride on Friday, February 15 to play for primary school children in the afternoon and a concert for Music in West Kilbride in the village hall in the evening.

Magnard Wind Ensemble consists of Suzannah Clements (flute), Mana Shibata (oboe), Joseph Shiner (clarinet), Jonathan Farey (horn) and Catriona McDermid (bassoon).

The Magnard will present a programme of music from the 18th to the 21st centuries, from Mozart to James MacMillan, demonstrating both the depth of their talents and the contemporary resonance of such beautiful music for us today.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm, with doors from 7pm.

Margaret McCrorie, chair of Music in West Kilbride said: "We are delighted that we have been able to attract another talented, young ensemble to the village.

"This talented quintet have attracted many awards and work widely across the music spectrum of orchestras, opera, baroque and contemporary classical music as well as West End shows.

"It is a source of particular pleasure that the quintet will play for our primary school children too, as the ensemble has a strong reputation for its educational work, including a celebration of the life and work of Roald Dahl: Revolting Rhymes and Other Marvellous Music.

"Music in West Kilbride is committed to educational work and this is the second group to have visited the school this year, Jyotsna Srikanth played there in November, and we hope that further music events will be programmed into the school."

Tickets for the concert, £10, can be obtained via the website or by phone (01294 824839), whilst any left will be available on the door on the night.

Members of Music in West Kilbride are admitted free of charge, as is anyone under 16.
