LOCAL police officers said farewell to one of their longest servants last week as the chief set off into his retirement.

South Ayrshire Communities Inspector James Hendrie worked with different areas of police including British Transport Police for 30 years serving the area and worked tirelessly to make the community a safer place to live.

South Ayrshire Police wished James well as he draws an end to his noble career. They said: “We would like to wish South Ayrshire Communities Inspector James Hendrie all the very best on his retirement.

“Over the past 30 years he has served with British Transport Police, Dumfries & Galloway Constabulary & Police Scotland.”
