TROON station is set for new retail outlets as ScotRail unveil new plans across the country.

The railway operators have announced a host of new retail opportunities that will be available across various stations throughout Scotland.

The search for local and national retail partners is underway to improve and enhance the quality of facilities that are currently available at Troon station. Such things as food and coffee outlets along with other services that would benefit the local community are being sought after.

However, the available space at the train station will need to be examined inside the small buildings beside the station platform but there is also an opportunity for stand alone kiosks on the premises.

As the station often see’s a substantial amount of footfall, especially during the summer months, new ventures are welcomed with open arms according to ScotRail Alliance who are investing in station improvements all over the country.

ScotRail Head of Commercial Development Peter O’Connell explained that the train operators are delighted to bring about new ways of improving commuters experience.

He said: “We’re pleased to announce new retail opportunities at stations across the country.

“While we’ve identified over 20 locations, we’re keen to hear from businesses who have ideas for other stations on the network.

“Providing our customers with the best station facilities is an integral part of our plans to build the best railway Scotland has ever had.”

Stations across the country have already began implementing new outlets that are creating new jobs and developing smaller independent business.

Earlier in the year, Flahute Coffee opened at Markinch station offering artisan coffee, luxury Belgian hot chocolate, speciality teas and nutritious snacks to the 315,000 people travelling to and from the station each year.

Flahute Coffee Managing Partner Alan Wylie said:

“As well as providing a regular income which has allowed the business to both establish itself and grow, we are also feeding into the local community and providing a valuable service to the commuters and locals.

“Locating at the station is the best business decision we have made.”
