EVENING Times readers are being given an exclusive look inside Glasgow’s newest and trendiest hotel.

Moxy is set to throw open its doors to the public with a week jam-packed with cool launch parties - which will even see a tattoo studio from Berlin take over, along with DJs.

As previously reported by us, Marriott’s lifestyle brand will see the 181-bedroomed building open on High Street on November 13.

Moxy is known for its modern, contemporary look and bosses hope to attract tech-savvy Millennials.

The brand is famed for reflecting each hotel’s locality in its decor - and Glasgow takes centre stage at the venue.

Every bedroom has a Glasgow comic mural on the wall.

Bosses commissioned local artists to create a street art mural in the communal areas, and the art theme continues throughout with spray paint cans, stencil art, paint drips and stains on the walls and floors, as well as the use of ship lights as a nod to the River Clyde’s ship-building heritage.

The venue also has an usual, eclectic and funky bar in prime position that doubles as check-in. A ‘grab-and-go’ pop-up is serving snacks and drinks 24/7.

All Moxys include a gym and meet-up rooms aimed at tech-savvy travellers in the lobby with the latest technology.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the art, a Moxy spokesman said: “Glasgow’s home to a large number of street art murals, painted by local artists. These murals are having a major impact on the city as they brighten up the streets, improve the image of buildings and gable ends.

“This became the main theme in Moxy Glasgow, where street art will contribute to the city’s image as a cultural centre.”

Bosses previously announced the appointment of Glaswegian general manager Ross Saunders who will lead the launch.

Marriott’s fifth Moxy in the UK will also create 32 new jobs for Glasgow.

Opening day is Tuesday, November 13 which will see a ribbon ceremony and welcome cocktails before Glasgow tribal drum and pipe band Clanadonia get the party off to a banging start.

The following night will see a DJ night with Niksa spinning the tunes. November 15 is a co-working day where workers from across the city and beyond are being invited to enjoy free entry, coffee and wifi along with a silent DJ.

November 16 is an arcade night with free tattoos, music and retro games before Berlin tattoo studio Konstantin Siegel’s takes over on the Saturday and Sunday. Book a session by emailing contact@konstantinsiegel.com.
