RESIDENTS are given the 'ok' to use the use the lane next to the Bingo Hall in Girvan, which has now been listed as a ‘dangerous building’.

The former cinema building, which sits on Dalrymple Street, was previously deemed ‘structurally unsafe’ in March last year.

South Ayrshire Council advise that the lane to the rear is still accessible after being made safe despite claims that is was off limits.

A spokesperson for South Ayrshire Council, said: “Work has been carried out to the rear of the privately-owned building to make it safe and to prevent further deterioration.

“The lane to the rear of the building is still accessible.”

The building has been lying vacant since October 2000.

In May 2004 it was reported that the cinema would be included on the Buildings at Risk Register before it was decided it would be converted into Omega Bingo in a bid to save it.

However, inspections since then have found the former Vogue Cinema in the same condition and it is still on the Buildings at Risk list.
