THE Ayrshire Hospice Board has appointed a new Chairman - John Corrigan from Stewarton in East Ayrshire. 

John has been a Board member since 2012 serving on the full Board, various governance committees and facilitating the Ayrshire Hospice Business Ambassador programme.

Mandy Yule, Chief Executive of the Ayrshire Hospice commented: “I am delighted that John Corrigan has been elected as Chair of the Board. 

“I am confident that he, together with the rest of the Board, will continue to provide a clear vision, ensure robust governance and set the appropriate strategic direction for the hospice in the years ahead.”

John Corrigan is a former chief police officer whose posts included Commander of Ayrshire, Assistant Chief of Strathclyde then Scotland’s first head of counter terrorism. 

He was awarded the Queens Police Medal in 2008.

Mr Corrigan said “It is a privilege and a weighty responsibility to take up the role of Chair of Ayrshire Hospice Board. 

“It is always humbling to see first-hand, the compassion, commitment and ingenuity of the employed and voluntary staff who time and time again ‘make today matter’ for hospice patients and their families, from every corner of Ayrshire.”
