BANK staff from South Ayrshire rallied round recently to support a leading medical charity.

TSB Ayr and Prestwick have actively been fundraising for their nominated charity, Ayrshire Cancer Support.

The Friday of the recent holiday weekend saw the teams spring into action with a range of fundraising activities including Bake Sales, Golf Course Walking and walking challenges from Cumnock to Ayr.

TSB Ayr, who had just completed their first year of fundraising for Ayrshire Cancer Support, also presented a cheque for £2108 and have renewed their commitment to the charity for another year.

Laura Brown, Income and Marketing Manager for Ayrshire Cancer Support said: "This is an outstanding effort by TSB staff and I would like to thank the customers and colleagues of the teams for donating both their time and money to Ayrshire Cancer Support.

"As a local charity, we provide practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer, either through a personal diagnosis or that of a loved one. It’s great to know that local people are actively raising funds to ensure we can keep these vital services alive in Ayrshire."

Ayrshire Cancer Support currently undertake more than 1000 patient transport journeys per month, making them a lifeline service for people diagnosed with cancer.

Patients who have hospital appointments for cancer treatment are driven by volunteers to the treatment hospital, often the Beatson or Gartnavel – as they have no other means of getting there. They also provide counselling and complimentary therapies at their centre in Wellington Square Ayr. All services are free of charge.
