The campaign to protect the landscape and communities around Straiton were given another boost on Sunday September 20.
Over £760 was raised at the Straiton Stroll to support the campaign to save communities around Straiton from inappropriate industrial development.
Walkers enjoyed fine views of the village and hills while building up an appetite for a tasty barbecue and delicious desserts. Donations came from all quarters; even one of the barbecues, complete with burgers and 2 bottles of wine was auctioned off.
Chair of Save Straiton, Lala Burchall-Nolan, gave an update on the campaign to protect the area from six wind farms.
There is to be a forthcoming public inquiry into Keirs Hill wind farm starting on the September 28 in Dalmellington Community Centre.
Several walkers from the village of Waterside which would be profoundly affected by Keirs Hill had joined walkers from Straiton, Crosshill, Kirkmichael, Girvan, and even Edinburgh.
