EVERY year an epic battle is waged between the tennis players of Prestwick Sports and Leisure - to determine who are the best players in the club.

There was sweat, tears and many broken strings (but thankfully no blood) and on August 15, the new champions were decided.

The competition, which began at the start of August, was open to all club members. There were four categories - Mens Singles, Mens Doubles, Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles - and competitors played their matches in their own time at the club before the final.

The winners were, as follows:

Ladies: Catriona Gaskell (runner-up Julie Cuthbertson).

Ladies Doubles: Claire Rogerson & Gemma Rogerson (runners-up Gillian McIlroy & Natalie Caldwell).

Mens: James Ward (Runner-up Stuart Dow).

Mens Doubles: Stuart Dow & Ian Mcfie (runners up Craig Walker & James Ward).

Mixed Doubles: Shona Thomson & Graeme Rogerson (runners up Gillian McIlroy and Ewen Alexander).

The club would like to thank everyone who took part.
