New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup Second Round

ASHFIELD 1

CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS 3

A GLORIOUS hat-trick from striker Murray Johnstone helped form team 'Mark come from behind to book a place in the last 16.

The home side began well and took the lead with a goal in 15 minutes.

However Craigmark came roaring back and levelled in 35 minutes when Johnstone smashed home a superb shot from 30 yards.

Ten minutes after the break Ashfield were reduced to 10 men when a player was sent off for a second booking.

Midway through the second half, 'Mark seized the lead when Johnstone made a run down the left, beat two players and slotted the ball home.

Then with five minutes remaining the Dalmellington side made sure of victory when Scott Burns crossed to Ally Boyle, whose shot was saved, but Johnstone turned home the rebound.

Saturday sees Craigmark welcome Kilbirnie Ladeside to Station Park for an Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup tie.

Boss Ian Patterson said: "It's great to be in the last 16 of the West and we now look forward to playing Kilbirnie. It will be a test as they are a Premier Division club, but we look forward to it."
