TROON 2004s 0

DREGHORN 0

(Match sponsored by The Bike Post Troon)

UNDERSTRENGTH Troon were five players down due to injury and other commitments, however those in the dressing room were determined to put out a good performance.

Troon started with a four-five-one formation and started with a renewed zing in their step with a more passionate and competitive style of play which was rattling the Dreghorn players.

In the first half, both sides were playing well, but Troon had the first chance when the ball was struck confidently, however the ball went wide.

The Troon midfield continued to battle hard to keep the ball by providing opportunities with great passes and making great runs up the wings and crossing in to the Dreghorn goal. Although Troon had more chances they couldn't hit the back of the net.

Frustrated Dreghorn had their chances too, however the Troon defence worked hard to block any chances of Dreghorn having a clear shot at their own goal, with most of their chances going well wide.

Late in the first half Troon player Blair Phillips was brought down outside Dreghorn’s 18-yard box, however a free-kick was not given as it was ruled a 50-50 ball.

The second half started with no changes to either side, the match continued where it had left off. Dreghorn started more confidently than the first half and made some good moves into the Troon half, however the defence foiled Dreghorn’s repeatedly.

Troon also made good use of space with their continued new vigour and made some outstanding passes and challenges within the midfield creating chances at the Dreghorn goal but could not capitalise.

Both sides continued pressing forward. Late on, Dreghorn created a good move down the left wing where, as the last man Troon’s Left back Cameron Hunter conceded a free- kick but Dreghorn were unable to capitalise.

Troon’s man of the match was Andrew Young, who a solid performance.
