MAYBOLE 9

MUIRKIRK 1

By Matt Speirs

RUTHLESS Maybole continued their push up the league with a convincing victory over strugglers Muirkirk Juniors.

In what was the only match in South Ayrshire to survive the dire weather conditions, Carlo Walker's men dominated from start to finish and were worthy winners against the struggling East Ayrshire visitors.

It took only two minutes for Maybole to open the scoring, Calum Walker playing in Lewis Gardiner, who rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the net.

Maybole were awarded a penalty after 17 minutes and Walker dispatched the ball into the net from the spot.

It was all Maybole and Ross Clark added a third in 24 minutes with

a shot across the keeper after the ball had hit the bar.

Muirkirk, in a rare attack, almost pulled a goal back but Stuart Peacock turned a shot from Ross Lundie over the bar for a corner.

Maybole were awarded another penalty in 40 minutes and again Walker made no mistake from the spot-kick.

Muirkirk then replaced goalkeeper Paul McCain with Jack Cunningham and the youngster played well at times, despite losing a further five goals.

The fifth goal arrived in 53 minutes, Calum Walker completing his hat-trick with a header from an Aiden Conner corner.

It was 6-0 two minutes later. This time Walker turned provider, playing the ball to the back post where John Lowe shot into the net.

Muirkirk almost pulled a goal back in 58 minutes, but Peacock cleared a shot from David Edwards off the line.

Three minutes later Damien Bloy netted a rebound off keeper Jack Cunningham for a seventh goal.

With 15 minutes left Muirkirk netted a consolation goal, Edwards shooting low into the net.

Three minutes from time Walker netted from close range and in the final minute Ross Clark completed the scoring with a ninth goal as 'Bole clocked up their biggest win of the season.
