THE countdown is on to the eagerly anticipated 38th Ayr International Youth Football Tournament for the Scotland Cup.

This year’s event is scheduled for the forthcoming May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Among the local representatives are two teams from Ayr Boswell BC and others from Valspar BC and Crosshouse BC.

Old favourites Cramlington FC from the North East of England are also back in action.

The event kicks off at Rozelle on Friday, May 22, with the Fun Fours from 6pm until 8pm and the Super Fours for age sevens and eights. Saturday and Sunday sees the nines and 10s seven-a-side in action along with the 12 to 16 eleven-a-side event.

A full day at Dam Park Stadium on the Monday sees eight finals taking place with the Scotland Cup the showpiece event.

The two losing semi-finalists will contest the Scotland Trophy and the third and fourth teams play for the Plate at Rozelle.

Sponsorship for the Under-15 Scotland Cup has been secured from Prestwick company Precision Tooling Services Ltd and Anderson Stewart Castings based in Beith.

Graham Ross, who is a director in both companies, played in the event as a youngster with Kilmarnock FC.

The draw for the 11-a-side event is, as follows: Age 13’s (2002’s) Section A Harmony Row Ayr Boswell Colts Tristar Boys FC Holytown Colts.
