UPBEAT Ayr United assistant boss John Henry hailed his new signings as they got together for a photocall with pre-season preparations continuing.

Gerry McLauchlan joins from Brechin City while Greg Fleming was at Stenhousemuir last season while Paddy Boyle signed up from Airdrie along with Ross Docherty.

Alan Trouten returns to the club after a spell at Brechin.

This week Henry gives his verdict on the new players to the Ayr Advertiser.

GERRY McLAUCHLAN: Gerry’s main attributes are his aerial ability, there’s no doubt about that. He is a decent height but he is also quite composed on the ball and reads the game well and is a honest big defender.

GREG FLEMING: Has a good presence in goals, we saw that against us last season. He is also a good shot stopper and also a decent kicker.

PADDY BOYLE: Has a lot of pace, he has a good fitness level, is decent on the ball as well as having experience. He has played at levels above this and he will bring all those qualities to the table.

ROSS DOCHERTY: A midfielder with good energy and he’s a defensive type but he can still play a bit. But he has a bit of steel and dig about him and that will help.

ALAN TROUTEN: An attacking midfielder and wideman who plays off the front men. He is good technically, good on the ball, he has decent pace and knows where the goal is. He has scored a good number of goals at this level for the last couple of years.
