AFTER the district shutdown the weekend before, Ladies 1s welcomed Kelburne Ladies 3s to a bitterly cold, rain-drenched Troon.

Despite this, the 1s produced an outstanding performance with the first half a game of heightening pressure, pinning Kelburne in their own half through a constant high press. By half time Lisa MacDonald and Katie Watson had each put two past the Kelburne keeper, taking the score to 4-0.

The second half started in the same pattern with three goals from a forced error, then Amber MacDonald scoring followed by Lisa MacDonald, completing her hat-trick. In the final quarter Kelburne tried to push back, securing two short corners that they failed to convert. Troon responded strongly with an additional two goals, giving Katie Watson her hat-trick followed by Laura Bucke bringing the final tally to nine. The 9:0 win was a confident return to top form for the Ladies 1s, with Kelburne suffering their worst defeat of the season.

Ladies 2s were away to Fourth Division league leaders GHK Ladies 4s on another rain soaked pitch.

Despite the strength of the opposition, it was Troon’s Sara Gallagher who first found the back of the GHK's net from play at the end of the first quarter. The 2s, sensing their chance, pressed high and opened up the game down the flanks, putting the GHK defence under constant pressure.

Despite this the second half started with the 2s fighting to retain their narrow lead, a position helped by Sofia Burnham securing a second goal for Troon. The final minutes saw GHK working hard to break down the 2s strong defence line, but without success. In return Leigh Timothy, with a play worked out of defence, put a ball across the base line which Sara Gallagher deflected into the back of the net – deciding the game in Troon’s favour once and for all.

The Ladies 2s' impressive 3-0 win makes them the only team to have taken points from GHK Ladies 4s at both meetings this season. With four games left, they are placed third in their division and remain in contention for promotion. This coming Saturday sees both teams at home, with Ladies 2s hosting Uddingston Clinetix Ladies 3s and Ladies 1s facing Stepps Ladies 1s.
