NEW Whitletts Victoria boss George Grierson is going all out to secure promotion for Whitletts Victoria after being appointed their manager last week.

Grierson joins the club following a brief spell at Saltcoats Victoria and Grierson thanked his former employers for the opportunity to manage the Campbell Park club as well as the opportunity to speak to Whitletts.

"My time at Saltcoats may have been brief but I thank them for the opportunity to manage them and for allowing me the opportunity to speak to Whitletts. I'd like to think that I have left the club in a stronger position than when I arrived and wish them every success for the future."

"However the opportunity to manage Whitletts was one that I couldn't refuse. I believe that as a club they are not achieving their full potential and I'd like the opportunity to help them to do so

"Although they have not had a strong first half of the season, there is still the real possibility of the club achieving promotion this season and we'll be straining every sinew to ensure that goal is achieved."

Vics Chairman John Dalton welcomed George and said: "I'd like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the position, which in itself is a measure of how people view the potential that the club has.

"George is still a young manager who has been over the course before and knows what it takes to get a club out of the Ayrshire District League, having done so previously with Kilwinning Rangers.

"He is passionate about the game and has a very strong desire to succeed and I and the committee look forward to working with George to take the club forward."

Grierson's first match in charge will ironically be against his former side Saltcoats Vics at Dam Park on January 27.
