TROON 2004's 8

CLARK DRIVE 1

(Game sponsored by Gary Joiner from from JB Joinery)

AFTER a few recent disappointingly postponed matches, this was a must win game for Troon, as they hosted their near neighbours at Hosiery Park,

The first half started off with Troon immediately dominating with some very impressive football which was rewarded as shortly after the Lewis Martin assisting Connor Watson who scored Troon’s first taking the game to 1-0, however shortly after Clark Drive scored and the match was at 1-1.

As the first half went on Troon had several attempts at the Clark Drive goal and then Connor Watson assisted Jack McKinnon who scored Troon’s second taking the tally to 2-1. It was not long before Troon scored another with Blair Phillips assisting McKinnon, who scored again. The first half was nearly over when Troon was awarded a free-kick just outside the Clark Drive 18-yard box, which was taken by Geo Edgar, who struck the ball with excellent precision to net.

The second half started well again for Troon, after a few changes were made to give some lads on the bench a chance to play and again it was not long before Troon capitalised with another goal this time by Edgar, who struck the ball superbly from just outside the Drive 18-yard box and the visiting goalie couldn’t keep it out.

Clark Drive attempted a few attacks onTroon’s goal, but this came to nothing and when Troon started a counter attack Connor Watson assisted Dylan McDougal who scored to make it 6-1.

Troon were not finished as Edgar scored again from outside the 18-yard box, making it 7-1 and Douglas McKinnon scored a superb goal by striking the ball from an obtuse angle straight into the back of the Clark Drive goal.

All players shook hands at the end in the spirit of the game. The referee gave Troon player Geo Edgar man-of-the-match but it was a superb display of football overall from the Troon players.
