SUPER First Division champions Girvan were well beaten in this Scottish cup tie against high-flying Highland League outfit Brora Rangers.

The first chance fell to Girvan in eight minutes when a Steven Reid corner-kick found Danny Cunningham but his header went over the bar.

Two minutes later it took a point-blank save by Ally Semple kept the scoresheet blank.

Girvan were awarded a free-kick 20 yards from goal in 19 minutes but Paul Cameron's effort rebounded from the wall.

Six minutes Brora had a free-kick but Ally Semple saved the set-piece effort.

Brora took the lead in 29 minutes when they were awarded a soft penalty, which was converted by Paul Brindle.

Two minutes later it was two, Andrew Greig shooting into the far corner of the net.

Four minutes later the tie was more or less over when Brora added a third goal when a ball 12 yards from goal was met by Andrew Greig who netted.

It was 4-0 a minute from the interval a corner was headed goalwards but Semple saved, however the ball fell to Craig Campbell who netted.

On the hour mark Girvan had a chance to pull a goal back but David Cunningham's through pass was just too heavy and the Brora keeper beat Steven Reid to the

ball.

Five minutes later the scoring was complete when Greig completed his hat-trick with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Semple produced another fine save in 77 minutes to deny Brora a sixth goal.
