HIGH-flying BT Premiership newcomers Marr Rugby pulled off another huge victory on Saturday.

Craig Redpath's men travelled deep into borders heartland rugby territory and defeated hosts Hawick 29-24 to rack up their second win out of three.

Victory came a week after they saw off former champions Heriot's at Fullarton.

Delighted coach Redpath was happy with the win and said: "We totally dominated the first half, played some good rugby and deserved to be ahead.

"But after the break we didn't play too well and turned the ball over. That is something you can get away with in the lower leagues but not at the top level or you will be punished for it.

"The really pleasing thing in the second period was that we were never out of the Hawick half and caused them problems. We also battled back and saw the game out. I would say it was a really good team performance - there were no individual standouts."

Asked about their progress so far Redpath said: "If you had said to me in the summer we would have two wins out of three at the start of the season I would have been very happy indeed."

But he added: "We have to keep our feet firmly on the ground - it really is going to be a long season and some of the teams who are not getting results will start to pick up."

Saturday sees Edinburgh side Watsonians roll up at Fullarton for what looks like another entertaining game.

Redpath said: They had two difficult games to start with but had a good win on Saturday. But we have a great record at home and aim to keep that going - the target is to win the game."

The coach should have a full squad to choose from.
