TROON Portland's Colin Howie won the showpiece singles competition at the Ayrshire Bowling Association gents finals on Saturday.

He defeated Craig Yates of Crooksmoss 21-17 in a closely-contested final.

Ayrshire Women's Bowling Association played Wigtonshire at Seafield on Friday.

Result: Ayrshire 8 points and 118 shots v Wigtonshire 4 points and 82 shots.

Ayrshire now go through to the semi final at Inverness on Sunday, September 3.
