AMBITIOUS Prestwick are going all out to clinch a top-three finish in the Western Premier Division after another impressive victory.

Shazad Rafiq's side nudged ahead of third-placed Ayr and eight per cent behind on-form leaders Uddingston following a 133-run triumph against struggling East Kilbride at the Henry Thow Oval on Saturday.

The delighted skipper said: "It's a long time since I remember us scoring 300 runs in a league match. Luke Smith was very unlucky to be run out as he was cruising to 100. Tom Fleet also batted really well in the middle order and that was important for us. Our total was really hard to beat. Mitchell Rao bowled really well and it was nice I took a wicket, I don't often bowl."

He added: "We were fourth last year and hopefully we can finish in the top three this season. That would be a good achievement and that must be our aim. If we can win the next two league games at Kelburne and Dumfries it will be interesting to see where we are at with the last third of the season to come. I'm just disappointed that we didn't win the Uddingston game or the Ayr game."

Prestwick will be bidding to reach a semi-final and a final this midweek.

They host Greenock in the quarter-finals of the McCulloch Cup on Wednesday and 24 hours later play First Division leaders West of Scotland in the Rowan Cup semi-finals on Thursday.

The captain said: "We have a great chance of making a final on Thursday at West of Scotland and hopefully we can take it, that would be something we can look forward to. Hopefully we can come through on Wednesday too."
