THIS opening league match provided plenty of entertainment for the fans with Vics eventually running out victors against an improved Annbank United team.

Annbank booked the strong breeze and in four minutes opened the scoring when a neat move out of defence sent the ball to Rory Tait who netted with a low drive from 20 yards.

The game became an even contest after this but neither side looked dangerous in the final third of the field.

Vics did have a chance in 37 minutes but Kevin Adam shot wide.

The Irvine side were getting on top and in 39 minutes Andrew Hislop latched onto a pass from Darren Russell but shot over the bar, Two minutes later David Russell drove a free-kick into the wall.

Right on the interval Jordan Callaghan produced an excellent save, clawing an Adam header to safety.

Vics started the second half with a bang and within five minutes drew level Eddie Ablohr set up Jordan Craig who drove the ball beyond Jordan Callaghan.

Three minutes later Vics went ahead when a fine pass sent Ablohr clear and he slotted home a low drive. Annbank fought their way back into the game and equalised in 63 minutes when a mix-up in the Vics defencce allowed Greg Ferry to net.

Six minutes later, Vics went ahead again when Lee Anderson handled in the box and Adam gave Jordan Callaghan no chance from the penalty spot.

However Annbank were not out and in 80 minutes Chris Lamb saved from George Wallace at the post.

Two minutes later Vics killed the game with a fourth goal when a corner-kick was not cleared by the Annbank defence and Eddie Ablohr netted.

Vics added a fifth goal in the 88 minutes when hesitancy between Lee Anderson and Jordan Callaghan allowed Adam to nip in and lift the ball over the keeper.
