BRAVE people blew away the Christmas cobwebs and took the plunge in Troon's chilly waters for a special charity festive event.

Troon Dynamic Fitness organised a Boxing Day Dip in the sea to support the Ayrshire Hospice.

In all, 21 people took part in the event, which exceeded expectations with the target of £100 almost tripled. This is on top of more than £900 raised for the charity through climbing Ben Lomond earlier in the year.

Thanks go to Nicholas Redford and Roddy Fell for piping the group into the sea.

Group leader Kerry Murdoch said: "This means between Ben Lomond and Boxing Day we have raised over a thousand pounds for the charity, pretty awesome for a wee community class like ours, a huge thanks to everyone. We greatly appreciate all your support with these events.

"Since we started doing these wee charity classes and events in 2014 we have raised more than £5,500 for various charities."
