MORE than 180 Minis from across Scotland drove into Troon recently as part of a major fundraising venture,

The Mini Clan Rally saw car owners drive from Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride to Troon, mostly along B roads.

In all some £6500 was raised for charity, which will be split 50-50 between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Troon branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

There were 183 minis parked at Troon promenade on the day and a sizeable crowd of locals and visitors greeted them in near-perfect weather conditions.

The Mini Clan have been around since 1993, and at present have around 200 members.

Most of their recruits come from the Central Belt of Scotland, but they do have members from around the world.

The Mini Clan welcome and include owners of both the 1959 to 2000 original Classic Mini and the new Mini.

Where possible, their events include both cars although occasionally we may limit to one or other model of car, for instance if they have a stand at a Classic car show.
