A MENTAL health charity set up in memory of a teenage girl had their funds boosted by more than £4,000 at a a special event organised by a Troon group.

Troon Ladies Circle organised a Rainbow Ladies Ball at Enterkine House Hotel and raised a staggering £4,200, with all funds raised supporting the work of registered Ayrshire charity, Beautiful Inside & Out (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation).

The event was full of fun and laughter, but Pauline Moriarty, founder of the charity, Beautiful Inside & Out had emotions running high as she explained about the charity’s background, aims and achievements.

Pauline said: "The inspiration behind this charity was tragically borne out of the suicide of my beautiful, compassionate, extremely intelligent, hilarious, altruistic 13-year-old daughter, Jenna Moriarty."

The charity founder introduced Jenna to ladies attending the ball, through a moving video montage of photographs.

Beautiful Inside & Out is about every person who needs someone to make them see and feel they are loved and are needed, that the world would never be complete without them and one day soon, things will be better.

In addition to raising funds to support the work of the charity, a main focus was in raising awareness about mental health issues and how the charity can provide troubled souls with support.

Pauline spoke of the gaps in the system in terms of support for bereaved parents and siblings of suicide victims and the heartbreaking impact this had had on Jenna’s little sister, who was just five when she lost her sister.

A highlight of the Rainbow Ball was in acknowledging the positive work being undertaken by the charity.

Bereaved parents and siblings of suicide victims and troubled souls of all ages, are offered individual and group counselling, play therapy or music therapy by the charity, with an online Facebook charity page for support.

Pauline told of a survivor, whose attempts to take his own life have resulted in him being in a wheelchair, but it is hoped one day he will walk pain-free again and achieve his former goal of becoming a doctor.

Schools have benefited from the charity’s music therapist supporting children by encouraging them to express themselves and their emotions through music therapy.

Pauline said she had been "overwhelmed" by the support given to the group by Troon Ladies Circle.

Since the Rainbow Ball, there have been many more concerned parents and troubled people seeking support.

Beautiful Inside & Out have also recently been granted a donation of five weeks worth of luxury seaside accommodation which the charity will use as short respite breaks for families being supported.
