MORE than 40 dogs from as far afield as East Kilbride and Glasgow headed for Troon to take part in a special seasonal event.

Dog and cat accessory shop the Pooch Pantry staged a Doggy Burns Supper on January 22, with the event being promoted by the Burns An A'That Festival and also mentioned on BBC Radio Scotland.

The pooches dressed up in tartan, sampled some haggis treats and took part in Hunt the Haggis and Find the Black Pudding challenges, along with some ball games.

They were given a goody bag, which included a vegetable crossbone chew, popcorn and a Lily's Kitchen sample bag.

Pooch Pantry owner Marion McLean said: "The hunt the haggis went really well, the dogs were into it and had good fun and the humans enjoyed some Prosecco!"

Winner of the Best Dressed Dog in Tartan, Flynn, the Jack Russell. His prize was a Stag dog bed.
